COMMITTEE TO NOTIFY THE PRESIDENT - Pursuant to the provisions of H. Res. 776, the Chair announced the appointment of Representatives Hoyer and McCarthy to the committee to notify the President of the United States that a quorum of the House has assembled.

The House received a communication from Representative Hunter wherein he resigns as a member of the House of Representatives effective at the close of business on January 13, 2020.

Ms. Scanlon filed a report from the Committee on Rules on H. Res. 779.

The House received a communication from Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the House of Representatives. Speaker Pelosi notified the House that Representative Jefferson Van Drew's election to the Committee on Natural Resources has been automatically vacated pursuant to clause 5(b) of rule X effective today.

The House received a message from the Clerk. Pursuant to the permission granted in Clause 2(h) of Rule II of the Rules of the U.S. House of Representatives, the Clerk notified the House that she had received the following message from the Secretary of the Senate on January 7, 2020, at 12:18 p.m.: that the Senate passed S. 3076.
