ADJUSTED WHOLE NUMBER OF THE HOUSE - Under clause 5(d) of rule 20, the Chair announced to the House that, in light of the administration of the Oath of Office to the Gentleman from California, the whole number of the House is 434.

The gentlewoman from the California delegation, Representative Maxine Waters, addressed the House and introduced Representative Jimmy Gomez, Thirty-Fourth District, California.

ADMINISTERING THE OATH OF OFFICE - Representative-elect Jimmy Gomez from the Thirty-Fourth Congressional District, State of California, presented himself in the well of the House to take the Oath of Office administered by the Speaker of the House.

The House received a message from the Clerk. The Clerk transmitted to the House a facsimile copy of a letter received from the Honorable Alex Padilla, California Secretary of State, indicating that, at the Special Election held on June 6, 2017, the Honorable Jimmy Gomez was duly elected Representative in Congress for the 34th Congressional District, State of California.

Considered as unfinished business. H.R. 1719 — "To authorize the Secretary of the Interior to acquire approximately 44 acres of land in Martinez, California, and for other purposes."
