DEBATE - The House proceeded with one hour of debate on H.R. 1219.

Rule provides for consideration of H.R. 1219 with 1 hour of general debate. The resolution provides for one motion to recommit; and providing for proceedings during the period from April 7, 2017 through April 24, 2017

Considered under the provisions of rule H. Res. 242. H.R. 1219 — "To amend the Investment Company Act of 1940 to expand the investor limitation for qualifying venture capital funds under an exemption from the definition of an investment company."

SPEAKER'S APPROVAL OF THE JOURNAL - The Chair announced that he had examined the Journal of the last day's proceedings and had approved it. Mr. Thompson (PA) demanded that the question be put on agreeing to the Speaker's approval of the Journal and by voice vote, the Chair announced that the ayes had prevailed. Mr. Thompson (PA) objected to the voice vote based upon the absence of a quorum and the Chair postponed further proceedings on the question of the Speaker's approval of the Journal until later in the legislative day.

ONE MINUTE SPEECHES - The House proceeded with one minute speeches which by direction of the Chair, would be limited to 5 per side of the aisle.

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE - The Chair designated Mr. Ruiz to lead the Members in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.
